In this third fight night I have filmed at the Samui International Muay Thai Stadium. It was a great night of fights. Two bloody fights and three KO's!
The one female fight on the card, Tila Dawn vs. Sarlikar was the reason for me being there. I have been shooting footage for a documentary on Tila Dawn. It was her first fight, and I thought it would make an interesting story. She was initially matched against Nampueng, who I had filmed the previous week. I personally felt it might have been a miss-match and was concerned for Nampueng, being a lot smaller.
I was equally concerned when I noticed the fighter had changed 1hr before, to Sarlikar (a 15 year old). The staff seemed surprised that I had noticed and shown an interest in the new Thai fighter's name. No-one else seemed to notice but me - but then again, I run Awakening Fighters. I will clarify, that I don't feel the Samui International Muay Thai Stadium where being slippery in changing the match up in any way shape or form. I think it's just a case of Nampueng pulling out for whatever reason, and Thai's not thinking any Westerners would care who was fighting who.
I was impressed by Sarlikar, and have exchanged contact details. Hopefully I will get to work with her in future.
