Rew Mitchell

Hi Julie, thanks for speaking with us today. We wanted to grab some time with you to help let everyone know what’s going on, and more importantly to get your thoughts on it.

Julie Kitchen

“Hi”

Rew Mitchell

Firstly, how are things with you? You retired back in January 2012, what have you been up to since then?

Julie Kitchen

“It has been non-stop for me! My whole life style has taken another direction. Training for myself has taken a back seat, I have still been training but not intensely as fight training demands.”

“I no longer have my own gym after separating from my Husband in 2013 who also was my coach throughout my flourishing fight career so I train where I can when I can at the moment.”

“The last couple of years I have been working with the Enfusion Team which has allowed me to learn new admin skills, travel globally commentating on the Enfusion Live shows and Co-Host/ Interviewer during Enfusion Reality which has recently been filmed in Thailand, I am very excited to see the finished product of Season 5 Ladies Edition. I am lucky to be in a job I love.”

Ok so we’re going to jump straight to the juicy question that our readers are probably waiting for. You’ve agreed to come out of retirement and fight on the first ever Awakening show next year, can you confirm that?

Julie Kitchen

“Yes I can confirm that’s true.”

Rew Mitchell

There’s a huge condition we have agreed on to be able to get you to fight isn’t there?

Julie Kitchen

“I don’t see it as a condition on my behalf as I have agreed I will be there on fight night. However, I am aware to make the Awakening show go ahead you are promoting the kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the show. I find it very intriguing how the fight fans will react and support the campaign as I have never heard of a promotion taking this step to kick start the beginning of a promotion. I hope there is enough support to make this event happen and set my destiny to step in the ring again. If you are unable to make the event you can pre order your stream viewing to support the campaign.”

Rew Mitchell

So to reiterate, fight fans, Julie Kitchen fans and Awakening supporters need to jump on this opportunity right now because we’ve only got a window of 27 days as a community to make this a reality!

We were so pleased when you said you would be interested in fighting on the first Awakening show.  We know that coming out of retirement is a really big ask, so what is it about Awakening that get’s you behind us?

Julie Kitchen

“I have always supported Awakening from the very beginning, I liked the ideas you had how to support female fighters in the different martial arts. I was the first female fighter of Awakening and it was great to have input with the name as it stands today.”

“During the end of my career you followed me closely even taking a trip to America to support me. You really do devote your time to support and keep all females records up to date in all martial arts sports so the fight fans receive up to date results, photos and news.”

Rew Mitchell

We’ve heard you say before that you have one fight left in you. Assuming that we can pull this event off, does that mean it will be the last chance we have to see you fight?

Julie Kitchen

“I can never say never, I have been retired since 2012 and I could be back in the ring next year! What I have learnt is you can never predict the future, nobody knows what the future has in store for any of us. I am sure there will be many mix reviews about my decision, but I have chosen this path myself, I am slightly older J with no full time gym or trainer. If I took the easy options throughout my career I would not be where I am now, so as you can tell I like challenges. One thing I do not lack in is discipline, determination and drive to push myself physically and mentally.”

Rew Mitchell

Thanks so much for speaking with us Julie, and more importantly for believing in the future vision of Awakening… it really means a lot.

Are there any thank you’s or shout outs you would like to do to close out the interview?

Julie Kitchen

“As always a big shout out to my fans who have supported me over the years, alongside my family  and friends who give me the support and love I need.”

“Thankyou to Awakening for designing my website juliekitchen.com and I wish Awakening success with the kickstarter, I hope each fan will make a donation to help contribute to Awakenings first show ever, there is only a 27 day window left to make this happen, and all support is needed. x”
