Marcela tells Awakening, “I started Jiu-Jitsu because my cousin invited me to come try it, and it was all he talked about, so I decided to give it a try. After a couple of weeks I was addicted, I was training 3 times a day. It was 1999, and I was 19 and had just started the University. It took me 14 years to get my Black Belt, because of school and work.”
Marcela Lawton’s Bio
Marcela Lawton is a female fighter from Itaperuna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
She began training in BJJ in Brazil, and received her Blue Belt in 1999. She then began training in Judo as well. Marcela received both her Brown Belt in Judo and Brown Belt in BJJ in 2009. In December of 2013, Marcela received her Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Alexey Cruz and her husband Jarod Lawton.
Personal Life
Marcela is a mother of one, Andre Lawton.
She also works as a substitute teacher.
