Julie tells Awakening, “I started Muay Thai at the age of 23 after giving birth to my twin daughters, to work on a little weight loss. I never expected to fight when I started training let alone become 14 x World Champion. I fell in love with the sport and the competitive side, challenging myself to get better. I loved learning new knowledge to improve my game and putting it into practice. Muay Thai has been such a huge part of my life and has giving me so much self confidence from originally being such a shy young girl. Strive towards your goals and beyond, who knows what you can achieve until you put the work in.”

Julie Kitchen is a female Muay Thai fighter and Kickboxer from Penzance, Cornwall, United Kingdom.

Julie has not only fought and beaten top fighters from fifteen different countries between 2006-2012, she has also captured the crowds and created a permanent global fan base.

Many people believe that Julie is the best pound for pound female Muay Thai fighter of all time. Incredibly, she didn’t start training until she was 23 years old.

The first British woman to win a WBC Title. One of Julie`s proudest moments was winning a world title in Thailand on the King of Thailand`s birthday. The bout was within the palace grounds in front of 20,000 spectators.

Personal Life

Julie currently teaches Muay Thai in the Netherlands. All of her achievements all the more impressive when considering that she is a full time mother of twins Amber and Allaya (who are also Junior World Champions). She works closely with schools as an ambassador for the “Shoot for the Stars Project”, and is also a pioneer of bringing Muay Thai into the school curriculum in her area.
