Emma tells Awakening, “I’ve always been surrounded by fighters at the gym, my husband fought for many years and I’ve always enjoyed being apart of it from the sidelines. After having my first daughter I decided I wanted to try something different and starting training in a Muay Thai class once a week in the evening. I loved it straight away and one class a week soon became 3/4. People always told me once you had kids you wouldn’t be able to get your fitness back in the same way and I’d have no time so I decided to prove that wasn’t going to be me. I wanted to be the best mum and wife but also do something for myself. I had my first fight just before covid, and had a second fight booked which was cancelled due to lockdown. Getting into Muay Thai later in life meant I didn’t have much time to waste and knew I wanted to give it a proper go. We decided to have baby number 2 whilst things were still in lockdown so I could fully focus on training once things opened up again. I started training again when she was 8 weeks old. Came back to compete in my first C class fight in august 2022. Again everyone told me it wasn’t going to happen, two kids meant even less time and energy but training was always something positive in my life so I always found a way to fit it in. Hopefully one day my little girls think their mum is pretty cool.”
