The UFC is going wild right now, breaking PPV records and attracting more viewers than ever. We’ve researched the odds for the latest events to guide you to our favorites for UFC 305, which is taking place on August 17th.
UFC 305: Perth, Australia
The event will be broadcast from the RAC arena in Perth, which is the third time the UFC has been to the city. The headline fight is a Middleweight Title fight between Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting event, and we’ve looked at the UFC odds and stats to provide a breakdown for some of the most compelling bouts.
Tai Tuivasa vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik
This will be one of the most exciting fights on the card. Both men stand at 6’2 tall with only a one-pound difference in weight and a 3-inch difference in reach. Tuivasa weighs 266lb, while Rozenstruik weighs 255lb. There’s also a reach of 75 inches and 78 inches, respectively.
Tuivasa has a record of 14-7 from 21 fights, and Rozenstruik is 14-5 from 19 fights. The similarities in records, combined with each man's background in kickboxing, mean it could go either way.
We think Rozenstruik will come out on top in this fight. His slight reach advantage will be helpful, mainly as it’s likely to be a strike-heavy contest. As Tuivasa is sitting at 10 in the rankings and Rozenstruik at 12, it could be the fight that causes the two men to switch places.
Kai Kara-France vs Steve Erceg
Kara-France vs Erceg is an incredibly intriguing encounter. Erceg stands at 5’4 compared to Kara-France’s 5’4. However, Erceg surprisingly has the reach advantage at 69 inches, beating out Kara-France by an inch. They both weigh 125lb, but Kara-France is much more experienced.
Erceg has a record of 12-2, and Kara-France has 24-11-1. While Erceg has a better win percentage, Kara-France’s experience could help him get through this fight. Erceg will be hoping for a win, especially in front of his home crowd, but at 4th in the Flyweight rankings, Kara-France will likely have too much for 9th place Erceg.
du Plessis vs Adesanya
The middleweight title is on the line in the main event, with du Plessis holding the belt and Adesanya at 2nd in the rankings. What’s surprising about the odds for this battle is that Sportzino has Adesanya as the favorite at -138 and Adesanya at +112.
Adesanya has a significant height advantage, standing at 6’4 to du Plessis’ 6’0. This difference in height leads to a 4-inch reach advantage, as Adesanya has an 80-inch reach. However, both men weigh 185lb, meaning du Plessis might have the advantage in punching power.
We agree with Sportzino when predicting the winner of this fight. Adesanya will likely have too much for du Plessis. If he takes the title home, it could lead to another huge fight against Sean Strickland at a future event.
