My name is Rew Mitchell and I'm the owner of Awakening and we have decided to start a Patreon page in the hope that we can continue to exist into the future. Patreon is a crowdfunding platform that allows visitors to contribute a tiny amount each month to make a creators efforts sustainable. By "creator" I mean the Awakening team. Here's an example of how it works:
Let's say that you value the work of the Awakening team and not only would you like to see our database become even better, but you would think that the world would lose something if the database disappeared entirely. Thanks to Patreon, we now have an option where visitors can play a part in the sustainability of Awakening by considering the option of subscribing for an amount of your choosing. We have the minimum set up as $3 USD a month, however you can even change that to $1 a month, or increase it to whatever you want at any time. Cancelling your patronage at any time is also easy.
We currently get around 20,000 unique visitors a month, so even if a tiny fraction of our visitors value us enough to help keep us going then Awakening will truly become sustainable! We not only want our beastly database to continue, but we have ideas and plans to make Awakening even better - first, we need to be sustainable!
