That’s right, we’ve just added our 4000th Awakening Profile! We couldn’t be happier to announce this fact. To see the progression of our global female martial artists register over the last few months has been great, and the general reception and response from the community has been phenomenal. On our old website we had around 2900 athletes, and Awakening as an entity was fairly unheard of. Since we launched this, our new website, on Christmas Day 2013 we have added well over a thousand athletes. A large number of these athletes have contacted us directly, and continue to stay in contact with us about any updates that happen in their lives/careers. You have kept us very busy, and we love it! Very little of the process we use is automated, we feel that the personal approach – although more time consuming – does help the community grow.

So who is the 4000th martial artist to be added to the global register? Her name is Lucy Stimpson, and she is one interesting lady! From Hertfordshire, England, Lucy… or Lucyfer as she is sometimes known, practices a myriad of arts: Shaolin Kung-Fu, Kickboxing, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, MMA, Wing Chun, Qi Gong and Sanda! Martial arts really is her life. She is also an instructor in Yoga and Shaolin Conditioning.

She has immersed herself in the ancient techniques as well as the modern, and from talking to her she really encompasses the ancient wisdoms mental approach to martial art that is often lost with the more modern arts. Many modern arts concentrate on the techniques in which to end combat as quickly as possible. Most of the ancient arts centre their doctrines around yin yang philosophies in which mind, body and soul must be aligned harmoniously on life’s journey, with the ultimate goal of enlightenment. Lucy is one of said martial artists, and we were delighted for her to be the 4000th, if not for the fact for us all to remember that there is more to martial arts than what we see on the outside.
